Police ID 3 men involved in crash
Butler Township Police released the names of those involved in a Thursday evening crash on the Route 68 bridge near Delwood Road.
Police are continuing to investigate the two-car crash that hospitalized three people.
Per a report Friday, police identified Michael Hodges, 37, of Butler as the driver of a dark-colored car that crossed into oncoming traffic.
Police said witnesses told them it looked as if Hodges was trying to pass another car in its lane, when it collided with a light-colored car traveling in the opposite lane.
The light-colored car was driven by George Leidhecker V, 41, of Butler. Hodges had a passenger in the vehicle with him, Randal Peevey, 41, of Butler.
All three men needed to be extracted from their vehicles and suffered severe injuries.
Hodges was taken by ambulance to Butler Memorial Hospital, where he was flown by medical helicopter to Allegheny General Hospital.
Peevey and Leidhecker were taken by ambulance to the hospital, and Peevey was later transferred to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital.
The road was shut down for about four hours while emergency crews worked to investigate and clear the scene of the vehicles and debris.
Assisting on the scene were the state police, Butler Ambulance Service, Butler City Bureau of Fire and Butler Township Fire Department.
