CRANBERRY TWP — A Callery man allegedly forcibly kept a young woman from leaving a parking lot in the township Monday, grabbing her by the hair and arms, police said.

Mason A. Mosberger, 18, of Callery was arrested Monday after the incident, which took place at the Sheetz on Ehrman Road in Cranberry Township.

According to the complaint, officers were called to the store’s parking lot at about 7 p.m. for a domestic violence incident. The caller said they saw Mosberger grab the young woman in an attempt to keep her from leaving the area.

Officers spoke to the alleged victim, a juvenile female, who was, “visibly upset, was crying, hysterical and in fear for her safety,” the complaint states. She told police Mosberger would not let her leave and physically assaulted her, grabbing her by the arms, shoulders, shirt and hair. Officers observed scratches on her arm, the complaint states.

She also showed officers her cell phone, which appeared to be shattered, and said Mosberger broke it.

A witness told officers he saw Mosberger assault the woman, and that Mosberger was, “aggressively” yelling at the woman and “slamming” the steering wheel and dash of the vehicle, the complaint states. The vehicle also had a broken windshield, which the witness said was not broken prior to entering the parking lot.

Officers reviewed surveillance video from Sheetz, and the complaint states video shows Mosberger attempting to pull the woman inside the vehicle while she was standing at the driver’s side door. Mosberger also is seen grabbing the woman’s hair as she tries to walk away, the complaint states.

Mosberger was charged with simple assault and criminal mischief damaging property. He was arraigned Tuesday morning by District Judge David Kovach, who set an unsecured $2,500 bond. An Oct. 19 preliminary hearing is scheduled.
