Thursday's heavy rains flooded Cresco Yeltrah on Pillow Street for the third time since the medical marijuana business opened in February. The owner said he has contacted the city's Community Development Corporation for an answer to the flooding.

Thursday afternoon's thunderstorms were enough to flood Butler's medical marijuana dispensary, Cresco Yeltrah.

The dispensary at 201 Pillow St. was closed for the day and employees were put on mop-up duty, drying the floors out by using vacuums, mops and brooms.

Since opening in February, the dispensary has experienced three floods, including Thursday afternoon's inundation, according to the owners.

“I can't figure out why the city can't figure it out,” said Michael Hartley, the company's founder, noting that he spoke with Butler's Community Development Corporation and the city engineer. “They know it happens consistently.”

According to Hartley, his company has spent $60,000 on flood remediation measures that include a grate in the back of the building that diverts water underground.

By 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Hartley said they had already turned down a dozen customers, some from as far as New Castle.

“We're concerned with patients not being serviced,” he said, estimating that the dispensary deals with about 120 people per day.

The dispensary will be open Friday during its regular operating hours.
