Butler PoliceMonday — Police filed criminal charges against Dennis R. John Jr., 41, of Butler stemming from a crash Oct. 20 when the minivan he was driving crashed into a house on Liberty Street.John, who suffered minor injuries, fled the scene after the wreck about 10 a.m. Three people were in the house but no one was hurt.Police said faulty brakes caused John to lose control of the van while traveling downhill on Brush Street. The vehicle continued through the intersection at Liberty Street, first hitting the porch post at a vacant house and then the corner of the occupied house next door.John is charged with hit-and-run and causing an accident involving injury, both misdemeanors. Additionally, police cited him for driving with a suspended license.

Butler Twp Police3:19 p.m. Oct. 27 — Daniel L. Linhart-Louis, 24, was arrested on felony assault and other charges after he allegedly used a knife to attack his girlfriend, Christina Roby, during a domestic dispute at his apartment at Whitestown Village on the 300 block of Whitestown Road.Roby told police that she and Linhart-Louis had gotten into an argument during which he threw an ashtray toward her and knocked items off a bedroom dresser. He followed her into the living room, she recounted, where he threw tobacco in her face and used a “full body block” to knock her into the couch.The defendant is accused of clutching her by the hair and grabbing a large kitchen knife, which he ran against Roby’s neck and stomach, according to court documents. She was not seriously injured and managed to get out of the apartment. She drove away in her car.Police said when they got to the apartment they found Linhart-Louis. They found the knife that Roby described in the bedroom.Linhart-Louis told police that he suffers from post-traumatic stress syndrome, documents said. He admitted getting into an argument but denied attacking her. He acknowledged he got a knife during the altercation but claimed he left it against his left leg and never threatened Roby with it.He was later arraigned on charges of aggravated assault, terroristic threats, simple assault and harassment. He was placed in Butler County Prison on $25,000 bail following arraignment.

Grove City Police6:30 a.m. Tuesday — Phuong Thanh Ho, 24, of Grove City was arrested for felony drug possession following a warrant at an apartment on the 300 block of South Center Street.Assisting police in serving the search warrant were narcotics agents with the state attorney general’s office and members of the Mercer County Critical Incident Response Team.Ho was arraigned on charges of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, and possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. He was placed in Mercer County Jail on $150,000 bail following arraignment.1:34 p.m. Monday — Zachary Surrena, 22, of Grove City was arrested on traffic warrants after he was stopped on the 300 block of West Main Street. He was taken to the office of District Judge Neil McEwen where he was able to pay collateral and was released.

State Police, Butler8 a.m. Oct. 26 — Timothy Schnur, 53, of Center Township was arrested for drunken driving on Route 8 in Center Township. He appeared impaired and admitted he had consumed “a beer,” court documents saidA breath test showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.118 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.Schnur is charged with DUI, driving with a suspended license-DUI related, driving a vehicle with a counterfeit inspection sticker, driving without a valid inspection sticker, failing to stop at a red light, driving on the wrong side of the road and failing to use turn signals.Oct. 21 — Police charged Michelle Lynn Dipner, 43, of New Castle with having drugs when she was booked into Butler County Prison stemming from her arrest in January following a traffic stop on Route 8 in Center Township.Police said they stopped Dipner on Jan. 1. She was arrested after giving police a bogus name, according to court documents. Troopers eventually identified her and learned that she was wanted on a warrant.She was taken to the prison where a search of her purse turned up 53 pills and three packages of Suboxone inside a pill bottle.Dipner is charged with possession of contraband by an inmate, possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, and false identification to law enforcement authorities.

State Police, Kittanning2:13 a.m. Wednesday — A 21-year-old Kittanning man, who police did not identify, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence in Manor Township. Police released no other information about the traffic stop. Charges are pending lab tests.9:53 p.m. Sunday — A 29-year-old Ford City woman was caught with suspected drug contraband at ACMH Hospital in East Franklin Township. Police did not identify the woman, who was taken by Ford City Ambulance to the hospital. A nurse at ACMH discovered the contraband. Police said the suspect faces a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
