James Fix, a student at Freeport High School, recently tied for first place in the preliminary round of the Algebra I Contest for Armstrong and Indiana counties.The contest is held by the Mathematics Council of Western Pennsylvania.———

<B>Joshua Snodgrass</B>, son of James and Renee Snodgrass of Butler, has been added to the list of Honor Students with Distinction at Butler High School.While at the school, Snodgrass was active in varsity volleyball, student council, the Butler TV Studio and the National Honor Society, where he served as vice president.He is the recipient of the AK Steel Scholarship, the Golden Tornado Scholarship, McDonald's Ray A. Kroc Scholarship, Wal-Mart Scholarship, the Butler Elks Scholarships and the title of Friendliest in the Senior Class.Snodgrass plans to attend Duquesne University to study in the pharmacy program.Added to the list of honors students at BHS were <B>Callie Hindman</B>, <B>Justin Krill</B>, <B>Russell McDowell</B>, <B>Steven Monnie</B> and <B>Alyssa Sequette</B>.———

<B>Elizabeth Anne Natale </B>of Butler has been chosen for membership in the Phi Beta Kappa academic honorary.She is a senior psychology major in the University of Rochester's College of Arts, Sciences and Engineering.Natale is the daughter of Dennis and Darlene Natale and a Mars High School graduate.
