STUDENT DIRECTORY
Senior sociology and history majors at Westminster College recently presented their capstone research in the Orr Auditorium. The capstone course is the final component of liberal studies programs at Westminster and provide opportunity for students to evaluate and assess the strengths and limitations of their major field.
Among students presenting projects were
Laura Connell of Slippery Rock. A history major, her study was "African-Americans in the Civil War: What was Their Role?"
Anthony Beilstein of Butler, a history major, presented on the topic "The Influence of a Problematic Childhood on Ivan IV."
Nathan Wdowiak of Mars is a sociology major. The topic of his study was "How Social Capital is Nested and Shared within a Church."West Sunbury resident
Kial Vidic, a senior political science and history major, presented on the topic "Pirates: The Secret Codes, Contracts, and Symbols of the Golden Age."
Scott Carney of Cranberry Township, a sociology-criminal justice major, presented the project "Social Capital: Varsity Sport Participation."———The
Westminster College chapter of Omicron Delta Kappa initiated 36 new members recently in a ceremony held at Wallace Memorial Chapel.Among the inductees were

Jacob Moon, both of Zelienople; and
Ashley Stebor of Cranberry Township.———Four Butler County students were among those nominated by U.S. Rep. Phil English, R-3rd, to the U.S. military academies.English nominated 20 students from the 3rd Congressional District, which includes most of Butler County.Among the nominees are:
Luke Dugger of Evans City, to the United States Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs, Colo.
Jordan Foley of Butler, United States Naval Academy at Annapolis, Md.
David Fugate of Cabot, United States Military Academy at West Point, N.Y.
Andrew Schnur of Butler, U.S Naval Academy.Meanwhile,
Kevin Hoffman of Grove City also was nominated to the U.S. Naval Academy.
