Christian Bruggeman, a senior at Butler High School, has been named a National Merit Scholar.Bruggeman has been accepted to Carnegie Mellon University's School of Computer Science in the early decision program.At the high school, Bruggeman is president of the National Honor Society and Japanese Club and serves as vice president of the Thespian Troop. He is also the percussion section leader in the Golden Tornado Marching Band and has attended Honors Band, District Band and District Orchestra.He will be part of the team representing Butler High School in the upcoming Academic Challenge.———
The following <B>Butler Senior High School</B> students participated in PMEA District Band and Orchestra Festivals recently and were selected for the Regional Band and Orchestra Festivals.Regional band will be Feb. 20 to 22 at Belle Vernon High School and will include <B>Brady Amerson</B>, <B>Stephanie Cicero</B>, <B>Grace Holupka</B>, <B>Brittany Scott</B> and <B>Merritt Wuchina</B>.Regional Orchestra Orchestra will be March 5 to 7 at Bethel Park High School and will include <B>Charlie Blakeley</B>, <B>Stephanie Cicero</B>, <B>Phylicia Collins</B>, <B>Cara Koerner</B>, <B>Elisa Nesbitt</B>, and <B>Erica Yurkovich</B>.Also, three students will participate in the Slippery Rock University District 5 Jazz Band Feb. 15 and 16: Amerson, Tyler Campbell and Wuchina.———
Butler resident <B>Stephanie Russell</B> has received a faculty scholarship at Cedarville University.Russell, a senior at Butler High School, is the daughter of Steve and Carol Russell of Butler.
