Krista Scott

The following 2008 Butler High School graduates were recently added to those who earned honors with distinction:

Krista Scott is the daughter of Tim and Pam Scott of Butler. She was captian of both indoor and outdoor girls track and field, was a student council member and National Honors Society member.Her awards include the Janice E. Miller Award, the Jacqueline Ruth Graham Scholarship, a four-year varsity athletic award for track and field and an academic achievement award.She plans to attend Slippery Rock University where she will major in mathematics and secondary education.———The following students were recently inducted into Grove City College societies:

Andrew Snyder of Harmony was inducted into the Beta Mu circle of Omicron Delta Kappa.

Craig Bicehouse of Prospect was inducted into Round Table.

Elizabeth Bicehouse of Prospect was inducted into the Alpha Theta Mu chapter of Mortar Board and the Beta Mu circle of Omicron Delta Kappa.

Michael Acquavita of Prospect was inducted into Round Table.———

• <B>Gina Benninger</B> is the daughter of Russel Benninger and Dr. Barbara Gibson-Benninger of Butler. She belonged to the Model United Nations, the Thespians, the Butler Golden Tornado Marching Band, the Junior Classical League and the National Honor Society. Her awards include the Ruth A. Graham Award, the National Merit Letter of Distinction and MSUHonors College National Scholarship.Benninger plans to attend Michigan State University Honors College and major in statistics.The following students received scholarships at Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio:<B>Richelle Russell</B> of Butler received the Jess and Arline Petty Scholarship and the Mark Noffsinger Prize.<B>Bill Tacket</B> of Saxonburg received the B-W Conservatory Women's Committee Senior Award.<B>Emily Cook</B> of Mars received the Dr. Robert H. Lechner Memorial Service Award.———<B>Amanda Black</B> of Butler was recently awarded the Robert L. and Jean Hagerich Scholarship and the Robert S. Waters Scholarship at Saint Francis University.Ms. Black will begin her senior year at the university this fall.———

• <B>April Chen</B> is the daughter of Hai and Jian Chen of Butler. She was treasurer for the Spanish club and belonged to Future Business Leaders of America. Her awards include the Glenn R. Logan Scholarship and the Golden Tornado Scholarship Award.Chen plans to attend Duquesne University and major in accounting.———<B>Chessa Fernandez</B> of Zelienople and <B>Kaylee Giger </B>of Valencia were awarded Verizon scholarships of $5,000 per year for four years. Fernandez plans to attend Indiana (Pa.) University and Giger plans to attend Penn State University.———<B>Erik Fort</B> of West Sunbury has been accepted at Gannon University in Erie. He will begin classes in the fall and will major in political science and pre-law.Fort is the son of Michael and Diane Fort. He graduated from Moniteau High School, is a member of the National Honor Society and is active in mock trial and the academic sports league. He received the Principal's Honor Award and the Slippery Rock University Youth Service Award. He was also captain of the golf team.———

• <B>Amanda Malecky</B> is the daughter of Mitchell and Marie Malecky. She was a captain and four-year letter winner in varsity soccer, varsity indoor track and varsity outdoor track. She was also a member of the National Honor Society.Her awards include Most Valuable Player and the Janice E. Miller Award in girls track and field, an academic achievement award in girls varsity soccer, the Northern Area Athletic Directors' Association Tri-Athlete Award, the Richard E. Pyewell Memorial Scholarship winner and the Goal-getter Soccer Scholarship winner.Malecky plans to major in nursing at the University of Akron Honors College.

<B>Elisa Nesbitt</B> of Butler has been awarded a $14,000 academic achievement scholarship to be distributed over four years at Penn State University, Schreyer Honors College.Nesbitt is a 2008 graduate of Butler High School and the daughter of Scott and Susan Nesbitt. She plans to major in pre-medicine.———<B>Matthew Bocchi</B>, son of Kenneth and Cindy Bocchi of Cabot, was named the 2008 recipient of the St. Michael's College Scholarship and Service Book Award.Bocchi is a student at St. Joseph High School in Natrona Heights.———<br><br>

———• <B>Kylee DiGregorio</B> is the daughter of Kurt DiGregorio and Sandy DiGregorio, both of Butler. She was a member of the National Honor Society, the string orchestra, the all-school musical and Students Against Violence Everywhere club. She received the most studious award in Who's Who.DiGregorio plans to major in English at Bucknell University.<br><br><br>

———• <B>Alexander Goettler</B> is the daughter of Bruce and Joyce Goettler of Butler. He was a member of the German club and the video game club. He lettered in the National Honor Society.Goettler plans to attend Robert Morris University and major in hospitality and tourism.
