Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, awarded undergraduate summer research fellowships for summer 2009 to the following students:
Nicole Frisbee of Valencia, was awarded $1,200 to conduct an individual research project titled "Electrically Assisted Manufacturing Process Effects on Microstructure of Magnesium and Aluminum Alloys." Frisbee, a senior mechanical engineering major, is working with John Roth, associate professor of mechanical engineering.
Nicole Gall of West Sunbury was awarded $1,200 to conduct an individual research project, titled "Size Dependence of Metal-Enhanced Fluorescence from Dye-Coated Silver Nanoparticles." Gall, a junior physics major, is working with Bruce Wittmershaus, associate professor of physics.
Matthew Shuster of Butler was awarded $3,000 to conduct a group research project, titled "Comprehensive Statistical Database of Multilateral Treaties Project." Shuster, a senior software engineering major, is working with John Gamble, distinguished professor of political science and international law.———
Amanda Green of Butler has been accepted at Gannon University, where she will pursue a business major.Green graduated in 2009 with honors from Butler High School. She is the daughter of Thomas and Linda Green of Butler.———
Andrew Grills of Slippery Rock has been accepted at Gannon University.Grills graduated in 2009 from Slippery Rock High School. He is the son of Richard and Ida Grills of Slippery Rock.———
Jeremy Rickert of Connoquenessing has been accepted at Edinboro University, where he will major in communications.Rickert is a 2009 graduate of Butler High School. He is the son of Gil and Terri Rickert of Connoquenessing.
