Moira DeWalt, originally of Butler, was awarded a full academic scholarship to attend the University of Akron.DeWalt was a member of the National Honor Society and plans to pursue a nursing degree.She is a 2009 graduate of Highland High School in Medina, Ohio, where she now resides.———
The Armstrong County Community Foundation awarded 22 scholarships to students for the 2009-10 school year, including these students from Butler County:<B>Cynthia Jones</B> of Freeport was awarded the Evelyn R. Benton Nursing Scholarship. She is working toward a bachelor's in the nursing program at Indiana (Pa.) University.<BR></BR><BR></BR><BR></BR><BR></BR>
<B>Alaina Burns</B> of Chicora was the recipient of the first Dr. John Garrott Memorial Scholarship. She is a 2009 graduate of Karns City High School and plans to study pharmacy at the University of Pittsburgh. She is the daughter of John and Elaine Burns of Chicora.<BR></BR><BR></BR><BR></BR><BR></BR>
<B>Richard Brown</B> received the Armstrong County Technical School Scholarship. A 2008 graduate of Karns City High School, Brown is currently enrolled in the Butler County Community College RN program.<BR></BR><BR></BR><BR></BR><BR></BR>
<B>Trisha Bartlett</B> of Knoch High School was granted a full scholarship to attend Pennsylvania Free Enterprise Week 2009 at the Pennsylvania College of Technology in Williamsport.A junior, Barlett will attend a weeklong session starting July 26. During the week, student companies simulate the operation of their own businesses for the equivalent of three years and face many of the same decisions real executives confront. The students also learn about business ethics, management skills and more.Bartlett is the daughter of Randy and Sandra Bartlett of South Butler.
