Gina Benninger

Gina Benninger of Butler accepted membership in the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. She will be honored this fall in an induction convocation at Michigan State University.A 2008 graduate of Butler High School, she is the daughter of Russel Benninger of Butler and Barbara Gibson-Benninger of Lakewood, N.Y.———

Anthony Miller of Slippery Rock accepted admission at Gannon University. A student at Moniteau High School, he is the son of Paul and Lisa Miller.———

Cody Ewell of Slippery Rock accepted admission at Gannon University, where he will study chemical engineering. A student at Slippery Rock High School, he is the son of Jacki Ewell.———Muskingum University held its annual Scholarship Recognition Day program April 9 on campus in New Concord, Ohio. The following local students received awards:•

Kathryn Stewart of Grove City received the William J. Wallace Award in Chemistry, awarded to an outstanding junior or senior chemistry major.•

Ashley Zajacs of Evans City received the M. Wesley Roper Scholarship in Sociology, awarded by the sociology and anthropology department to sociology students in memory the former Muskingum professor.n

Nicholas Soltis of Harmony received the Bill and Ruth McCauley Scholarship, awarded by Muskingum's Department of Education to an outstanding upper class education major. Soltis also received a Fourth Year Award.———The Westminster College Symphony Orchestra will present its spring concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Featured performers include the winners of the aria and concerto competition.

Alexandra Patterson of Saxonburg, the aria competition winner, will sing "Deh Vieni Non Tardar" from the "Marriage of Figaro." She is a freshman music performance major. A graduate of Knoch High School, she is the daughter of Laurence and Laurette Patterson.

Alexander Weil of Prospect, who won the concerto competition, will be the saxophone soloist in Glazunov's "Saxophone Concerto In E-Flat Major." Weil is a freshman French and music major. A graduate of Slippery Rock High School, he is the son of Susan Roop.
