Marianne Gumbosky of Butler and
Erin King of West Sunbury received certificates of completion Aug. 20 at the University of Findlay for completion of the University's Nuclear Medicine Institute.Both are nuclear medicine technology majors.Gumbosky is a 2006 graduate of Knoch High School,King is a 2006 graduate of Butler High School.The NMI, sponsored by the University of Findlay, is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Educational Programs in Nuclear Medicine Technology to offer a certificate program in nuclear medicine technology.This certificate program constitutes the senior year of the nuclear medicine major at the university and is accepted toward completion of the degree program.Successful completion enables the student to apply to the national certification boards in nuclear medicine technology.——
Haley French, a senior at Slippery Rock High School, was one of 70 students who participated in the Pennsylvania School for Global Entrepreneurship, a former Governor's School, at Lehigh University this summer.The five-week journey focuses on topics such as entrepreneurship, finance, ethics, project management, cross-cultural communications, team building, negotiation, and developing a marketing and business plan.Students participate in large and small group seminars and workshops, visit businesses and industries throughout the area, create networks with international students, entrepreneurs and business leaders, and work closely with a successful entrepreneurial company.Each student team prepares a business report and makes a formal presentation to the company with recommendations and solutions to the entrepreneurial problem they were faced with at the company.
