Rachel Saeler of Butler was awarded the $1,000 Commonwealth Good Citizen Scholarship by the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of Pennsylvania.She is a junior nursing student at Waynesburg University. She was selected for the award as a result of her commitment to community service.——

Two Butler County students were named to the homecoming court at Thiel College.• Senior <B>Michelle Gable</B> of Mars was named homecoming queen. She is a biology/ pre-medicine major with minors in biochemistry, accounting and business administration. She is captain of the Thiel cheerleading squad and a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority, Tri-Beta biology honorary, the Haller Institute and the Newman Society. Gable is the daughter of Irvin and Teresa Gable.• Sophomore <B>Matt Schneider </B>of Butler is a neuroscience major with a psychology minor. He is president of the sophomore class and is a member of Lambda Sigma sophomore honorary and Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. He is the son of Gary and Sharon Schneider.——

Nineteen students at Butler High School earned AP Scholar Awards in recognition of their exceptional achievement on AP Exams.The College Board's Advanced Placement (AP) program provides willing and academically prepared students with the opportunity to take rigorous college-level courses while still in high school and to earn college credit, advanced placement or both for successful performance.• <B>Patrick Fitz</B> qualified for the National AP Scholar Award by earning an average score of 4 or higher on a five-point scale on all AP Exams taken and scores of 4 or higher on eight or more exams.• <B>Garrett Burd</B>, <B>Patrick Fitz</B>, <B>Shannon Gallagher</B>, <B>Nicolette Hladik</B> and <B>Daniel Santoro</B> qualified for the AP Scholar with Distinction Award by earning an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken and scores of 3 or higher on five or more exams.• <B>Steven Feczko</B>, <B>Thomas Mitch </B>and <B>Taylor Smith </B>qualified for the AP Scholar with Honor Award by earning an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken and scores of 3 or higher on four or more exams.• <B>Roman Bargo, Alex Bauer, John Broad, Andrew Claudy, Samantha Farabee, Gretchen Geibel, Isaac Hartung, David Hohn, Samantha Jones, Kristin Karam</B> and <B>Kyle Linn</B> qualified for the AP Scholar Award by completing three or more AP Exams with scores of 3 or higher.
