Lexie Elliott

Lexie Elliott of Sarver was crowned homecoming queen Oct. 9 at Westminster College.Elliott is a junior sociology major. A graduate of Knoch High School, she is the daughter of Kenneth and Christine Elliott of Sarver.

Will Armentrout of Ford City was crowned homecoming king.———

Emma Kile of Butler was elected Vice President of the Class of 2012 at Clearwater Christian College for the 2010-2011 school year.She was also elected Secretary-Treasurer of the Student Government.She is a graduate of Calvary Academy and is studying elementary education. She is the daughter of Jared and Eileen Kile of Butler.———

Ashley Harper of Butler was one of 12 Mercyhurst College students trained and certified as peer educators to deliver a program about alcohol awareness in middle school classrooms.Harper is a senior majoring in history.All were trained through the BACCHUS Network (Boosting Alcohol Consciousness Concerning the Health of University Students). They taught sixth, seventh and eighth grade students facts about alcohol and strategies on dealing with peer pressure.The outreach is one of several initiatives at Mercyhurst College funded by a $30,000 CHOICES grant from the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) to help eliminate high-risk alcohol consumption on college campuses by promoting low-risk choices.———

Alayna Carroll of Butler, a Westminster College individual interdisciplinary major, will present her senior lecture recital Nov. 7.She will perform and lecture on Debussy's "The Minstrels," Chopin's "Nocturne in C# minor, op. 27, no. 1," and Liszt's "Un Sospiro."At Westminster, she is active in Chamber Singers, Percussion Ensemble, Zeta Tau Alpha sorority and serves as treasurer of Mu Phi Epsilon music honor fraternity.Carroll is the granddaughter of Norman and Virginia Carroll of Butler and a graduate of Butler High School.———

Elizabeth Papantonio of Zelienople is a member of the Phi Mu sorority at Ashland University. She is the daughter of Tony Papantonio and Karen Haluck and is majoring in hospitality management.———

Julie Dederer graduated from the Army ROTC (Reserve Officers' Training Corps) Leader's Training Course at Fort Knox, Ky.The four-week course is a leadership internship for cadets that can lead to the ultimate goal of becoming an Army officer.The cadet is a student at Pennsylvania State University, University Park.She is the daughter of Sue Mullen of Houston, Pa., and Jeffrey Dederer of Valencia. She is a 2008 graduate of Mars High School.
