The following local students received academic honors and scholarship awards April 17 at Lock Haven University’s annual Gerald R. Robinson Academic Honors and Foundation Awards Convocation.
Chris White of Renfrew received the Dennis Killion Memorial Scholarship.
Gregory Kojodinovich of Sarver received the Verna Swisher Memorial Scholarship, Highest Academic Achievement and Clinical Growth Award for a Nursing Student.
Kathleen Torso of Zelienople received the Mary Hauck Stillman Leadership Scholarship.
———Matthew Facciani of Cranberry Township was among 25 Westminster College students to present research March 31 to April 2 at the National Conference on Undergraduate Research at Ithaca College.A senior psychology major, he is a son of Patrick and Joanne Facciani and a graduate of Seneca Valley High School.He presented “Manipulating Performance on the Monty Hall Problem through Allocation of Frontal Resources.”
———The following Butler County students from Westminster College participated in the Mathematical Association of America’s Allegheny Mountain Section annual meeting April 8 and 9 at Clarion University.Sophomore mathematics major
Lisa Kaylor is a daughter of Karen Kaylor of Chicora and the late Terry Kaylor and a graduate of Karns City Area High School.Sophomore mathematics and philosophy major
Gregory Clark is a son of Jeffrey and Shari Clark of Cranberry Township and a graduate of Seneca Valley High School.
———Westminster College’s Mathematics and Computer Science Department held its annual recognition and awards banquet March 24.Graduating seniors were recognized and departmental awards and scholarships were presented to the following local students:Sophomore mathematics major
Lisa Kaylor of Chicora received the Mathematics Book Award and the Dr. R. Thomas Nealeigh Mathematics Scholarship.
Stephen Donnel of Evans City was recognized as a graduating senior mathematics major. He is the son of Paula Donnel and Douglas Donnel and a graduate of Seneca Valley High School.
Erin Keck of Saxonburg was recognized as a graduating senior mathematics major. She is the daughter of Vernon and Carole Keck and a graduate of Knoch High School.

Kevin Keppel of Sarver was awarded the National Merit PPG Industries Foundation Community Scholarship. Keppel is a senior at Freeport High School and will likely study medicine or engineering.

Jessica Stevenson Stewart has been awarded a Kress Fellowship for research in Munich, Germany, for 2011 and 2012.Stewart is a current Fulbright scholar studying in the history of arts in Ghent, Belgium, and received the University of California Berkeley Graduate Division Award for a colloquium at University of Basel before the initiation of her studies in Belgium.She was also awarded the Outstanding Student Teacher award at the University of Berkeley.She is the daughter of Sarah Stevenson of Slippery Rock.
