STUDENT DIRECTORY

The following local students were recognized as scholarship recipients at the Thiel College Honors Convocation on Nov. 4:

Alyssa Bartlett, a sophomore from Slippery Rock, received the Thiel Presidential Scholarship.

Emily Petrak, a sophomore from Butler, received the Stewart Academic Scholarship, a Dean’s Scholarship, the Ruth Staudenmayer, R.N. Memorial Scholarship and the CRC Press Freshman Chemistry Achievement Award.

Samantha Hoffman, a sophomore from Slippery Rock, received the Sebastian Mueller Honor Scholarship.

Rachel Wills, a senior from Valencia, received the Irene Wintersteen Memorial Science Scholarship, the Dr. Chauncey G. and Mrs. Ruth H. Bly Scholarship and the Slaney Family Scholarship.

Philip Double, a senior from Evans City, received the Dr. Roy H. Johnson Memorial Award.

Joseph Hertzog, a junior from Butler, received a Thiel Academic Departmental Chair Scholarship, a Dean’s Scholarship and the Ted S. Hoagland ’79 Scholarship.

Sheena Johns, a junior from Worthington, received a Thiel Academic Departmental Chair Scholarship and the Sebastian Mueller Honor Scholarship.

Kayce Grimm, a sophomore from Petrolia,

Sean Johnston, a sophomore from Valencia,

Seth Shidemantle, a sophomore from Zelienople and

Matthew Schneider, a junior from Butler, all received a Thiel Academic Departmental Chair Scholarship.

Andrew Gaul, a freshman from Slippery Rock,

Timothy Hutton, a freshman from Cranberry Township,

Ian Lint, a freshman from Freedom and

Eric King, a junior from Butler, all received a Dean’s Scholarship.

Randy Bartlett, a senior from Slippery Rock, was honored as a member of Alpha Chi, Thiel College’s highest academic honorary society.Alpha Chi is a national honorary fraternity that recognizes those students who have achieved high academic standing.Membership is open to juniors with a grade-point average of 3.7 and a class rank in the top five percent and seniors with a grade-point average of 3.6 and class rank in the top 10 percent.———

Julie Holesh of Gibsonia, a junior at Gettysburg College, is spending the fall semester studying in Denmark.

Sara Purifoy of Evans City, a junior at Gettysburg College, is spending the semester studying in England.
