Caitlin Gannon of Evans City completed the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree at the Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine of Midwestern University.Dr. Gannon is the daughter of Peter and Rebecca Gannon of Evans City.She graduated from Oakland Catholic High School in 2001, earned a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from the University of Maryland in 2005 and a masters in medical sciences from Boston University in 2008.She also helped lead her swim team to an Atlantic Coast Conference championship her senior year at the University of Maryland.While at Midwestern, Gannon earned a Silver Touch Award for her service to the community.After graduation, she will complete a residency program in pediatrics at Riley Children’s Hospital of Indiana University in Indianapolis, Indiana.An official graduation ceremony and conferring of degrees will take place June 1 on the Midwestern University campus in Glendale, Ari.

Jeffrey Mitch of Oakland Township received the Dominion Distinguished Scholar Award at Duquesne University’s 30th annual Senior/Alumni Business School Luncheon on March 21.Mitch was selected for his academic excellence, volunteer and professional activities, leadership and his understanding of global perspectives.He has served as a wealth management tax service, internal audit and risk assurance intern, recreation director and finance director of the Duquesne Program Council, director and liaison for senior, junior and freshman class councils, president and vice president of finance for the Residence Hall Association and a student government senator.He is a member of St. Wendelin Parish in Carbon Center, sung with the Duquesne Chapel Choir and volunteered with youth and young adult ministries.Mitch is a 2008 graduate of Butler High School and the son of Ray and Carol Mitch of Oakland Township.He will accept a position with Price Waterhouse Coopers after graduating in July.

Zachary Sessa, a graduate of Butler High School and a sophomore at The College of Wooster, received the Lyman C. Knight Sr. Prize in Mathematics and Physical Education at Wooster’s 42nd annual Recognition Banquet.The Lyman C. Knight Sr. Prize is awarded to a sophomore who has demonstrated both outstanding promise in high school and first-year mathematics and superior physical skills.———

Maddilyn Thoma won first place in the 2012 Regional Data Processing competition of the Future Business Leaders of America.She will compete for the state title April 15 to 17 in Hershey.Maddilyn is a student at Knoch High School.
