JACKSON TWP — The second medical marijuana dispensary in the county will open Tuesday.

Solevo Wellness will open its doors in the Jackson's Pointe Plaza off Route 19, which is five miles north of Cranberry Township.

Patrick Gannon, Solevo's marketing director, said the company opened its first shop in Pittsburgh's Squirrel Hill neighborhood.

“We were the first medical marijuana dispensary in Allegheny County,” Gannon said.

Because many dispensaries are popping up in the eastern part of the state, the company's partners decided to concentrate on Western Pennsylvania.

When they opened the Squirrel Hill location, they already had a plan to open stores in Butler and Washington counties, Gannon said.

The success of the Squirrel Hill store, Gannon said, allowed for the opening of the Butler County store.

“Being the only (dispensary) in the city really gave us a lot of traffic,” he said.

The new store will offer creams, tinctures, oils, vape cartridges, flower and other products, which are available to those with a medical marijuana card.

The most common of the 21 state-approved conditions eligible for medical cannabis treatment at Solevo, Gannon said, is chronic pain, followed by cancer and post-traumatic stress disorder.

While the new shop has a spacious waiting room and will offer a full array of products, it does not have an education center like the Squirrel Hill headquarters.

“We'll be looking for a local place to put an education center so people don't have to drive to Squirrel Hill,” Gannon said. “Education is big for us.”

He said the shop's neighbors are glad to have them in the area.

“We've had very positive feedback from the other businesses,” Gannon said.

A private ribbon-cutting will be held Monday, and doors will open Tuesday.
