Man charged with gun threat

CRANBERRY TWP — A township man is accused of threatening his daughter’s ex-boyfriend with a gun, and police are looking at several cell phone videos taken by bystanders.

Earl S. Sahli Jr., 54, is charged with felony aggravated assault, terroristic threats, and recklessly endangering another person. He was arraigned and released on his own recognizance March 11.

On March 2, Sahli is accused of threatening Thomas Baker in the parking lot at Starbucks on Route 228, according to court records.

Baker and Sahli’s daughter were having an argument there.

Sahli told police his daughter called him and said she was being attacked. But Baker told police that they were having a verbal argument and she hit him, giving him a fat lip.

When Sahli arrived at the parking lot, he allegedly threw Baker to the ground and held a .45 caliber handgun to his forehead and threatened to shoot him if he did not leave his daughter alone.

Police also spoke with three witnesses, all of whom are employees at Hobby Express. Two of the witnesses took video of the incident using their cellphones, including when Sahli allegedly threatened Baker with a gun. The videos were reviewed by police.

Sahli told police that he threw Baker to the ground, but did not mention threatening him with a gun. After talking to his wife, police found the weapon under the seat of his SUV.

Sahli is to have a preliminary hearing April 8.
