Brett Davisson

Brett Davisson of Mars High School was honored as a semifinalist in the annual national Washington Crossing Foundation Scholarship Competition.

The awards are granted to high school seniors for the best all-around presentations including an explanation of why they are planning careers in government service.

Julianna Hritz of Seven Fields was inducted into Alpha Lambda Delta at Ashland University.

At Saint Vincent College, the following students also were inducted: Jacob Ferguson and Alexander Scialabba, both of Butler, Maura Fitzpatrick of Cranberry Township, Samuel Homan of Grove City, Alexan Bartos of Harmony and Kailey Dunmire of Zelienople.

Alpha Lamba Delta is a national honor society for first-year college students.

Lisa Kaylor, a mathematics major at Westminster College, recently received the Drinko Grant for Undergraduate Research.

Matthew McGarrah of Butler, Tori Kuhn of Cabot and Lindsay Boltz, Suzanne Craig and Anita Marchi, all of Cranberry Township, have been recognized as provost scholars at Indiana (Pa.) University.

Seven students at the Butler County Area Vocational Technical School were first place winners in various categories at the recent 2013 SkillsUSA District 10 Competition. They will compete at the state level in Hershey in April.
