Sheena Johns of Worthington was chosen as a Student of the Month at Thiel College for April. Johns is a senior psychology and criminal justice major.

Students of the Month are selected by faculty vote from among senior students with superior grade point averages.

Three local students have been selected for Sutton Scholars academic achievement scholarships at Indiana (Pa.) University.

Sarah Bartley, daughter of Samuel and Sue Bartley of Valencia, is a senior at Mars High School. She will attend IUP in the fall as a speech-language pathology and audiology major.

Kara Evans, daughter of Eugene and Carlynn Evans of Renfrew, is a senior at Seneca Valley Senior High School. She will attend IUP in the fall as a speech-language pathology and audiology major.

Devin Hay, son of Ray and Tina Hay of East Butler, is a senior at Butler High School. He will attend IUP in the fall as a natural sciences/pre-physical therapy major.

The Chicora-East Brady Rotary Club awarded scholarships to two Karns City High School juniors to attend this year’s Rotary Youth Leadership Awards Conference in June at Westminster College.

Awards were given to Tyler Kepple and Mike Olkowski. Tyler is the son of Joseph and Melinda Kepple of Chicora and Mike is the son of Joe and Trish Olkowski of East Brady.
