A research paper co-authored by Westminster College senior chemistry majors Danielle Murtagh and Tyler Umstead with associate professor Dr. Helen Boylan was presented at the Eastern Analytical Symposium (EAS) in New Jersey.

Murtagh is a graduate of Mars High School and is the daughter of Timothy and Lori Murtagh of Mars.

Umstead is a graduate of Slippery Rock High School and is the son of Daniel Umstead of Butler.

The co-authors compared techniques and optimized methods of analyzing barium and strontium in water produced from Marcellus Shale drilling.

Chelsea Constantino of Butler is the first recipient of the Stantec Scholarship, an award for La Roche College interior design students.

She is a junior at La Roche and received the scholarship for her academic success and community service, including her role as design manager of the student team that created the design concept for the Butler Library’s young adult area.

Constantino is the president-elect of the La Roche College Student Chapter of American Society for Interior Designers (ASID) and has an internship at Desmone & Associates Architects in Pittsburgh.

She completed an internship with Hospitality Furnishings and Design and worked as a set dresser and production assistant for several Pittsburgh film production companies.

Stantec is a global consulting firm of interior designers, architects and engineers.
