Dad charged with child endangerment, assault
A Brady Township man is accused of endangering his children after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend during a domestic dispute at the family's home earlier this week.
Richard C. Jamison Jr., 36, was arraigned Wednesday on misdemeanor charges of child endangerment, simple assault and resisting arrest, and a summary charge of harassment. He is free on $2,500 bail.
State police said they were initially called around 10:15 p.m. to a store in Brady Township for a reported domestic incident. Troopers spoke to a woman who allegedly told them that Jamison, her boyfriend, had struck her at least twice in the face and body, and slammed her into a wall at their home on Turk Road.
The alleged victim, who was able to flee the home and go to the store, appeared to have injuries, police said, that included bruising around both eyes and minor cuts on the inside of her lip.
Troopers went to the couple's home, where the defendant's 11-year-old son answered the door around 10:30 p.m. The boy told police that his father left the house to go look for the victim, according to charging documents, and that he and his 3-year-old sister were alone.
Police said Jamison is the father of the boy and he and the victim are the parents of the girl.
While troopers were still there, the defendant appeared around 10:45 p.m. Police said they do not know if he had left the house before they got there and returned, or if he was hiding in the home.
When police tried to arrest Jamison, who was holding the youngest child, documents said, he repeatedly “refused to set (the girl) down and place his hands behind his back.”
Troopers eventually took the girl from the suspect, police said, and he was arrested. Neither child was injured.
Jamison's preliminary hearing is scheduled July 29. Online court records did not indicate if he has an attorney, and he could not be reached for comment.
