Woman, 35, charged over threats

She's taken for evaluation

HARMONY — A woman was charged Monday with six counts of felony terroristic threats and risking a catastrophe to first responders.

Tameka Sgro, 35, threatened to blow up her mobile home on Sunset Court in the early afternoon of Feb. 3 by turning on burners from her propane gas stove.

Jackson Township Police Chief Terry Seilhamer said police officers determined that she was unlikely able to fulfill her threat and they turned off the gas from the outside.

“Although she turned her appliance on inside, there couldn’t have been enough gas to accumulate that quickly,” Seilhamer said. “She wouldn’t have had enough volatility inside the trailer to do it.”

Sgro also told first responders and police she had a knife and a firearm and would use the knife on herself if anyone tried to enter the residence.

“She kept appearing in different windows with this knife, and she put it under her chin,” Seilhamer said.

First responders came to the home after Sgro made calls to friends and family and 911 threatening to harm herself with the knife and then by blow up her home.

Harmony EMS, Harmony Fire District and a Crisis Intervention Team officer also were at the scene.

“We got her to open one of the windows at which point we were able to get the knife out of her hand and remove her from the window,” Seilhamer said.

When police attempted to restrain her, Sgro struggled with officers and kicked them.

Sgro made apologetic statements afterward, police reports said. She was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for an evaluation.

“I noticed that she had a slurred speech and a blank stare,” officer Vaughn Pulgini said in the police report.

Neighbors were not evacuated from their homes.

Seilhamer said that Sgro told police she “may have” overdosed on her medications.

Sgro also was charged with six misdemeanors for recklessly endangering another person and resisting arrest.
