Butler Catholic’s junior varsity boys basketball team won a pair of games recently, defeating St, Alexis, 32-25, and besting St. Ursula, 23-12.

Nicholas Maher had 14 points and Nathan Higgins seven against St,. Alexis. Maher had five points and Colin Gallagher four against St. Ursula.

Butler Catholic improved to 12-6 overall, 7-1 in section play.

In other action:

Butler’s eighth grade White team (14-1) defeated New Castle, 38-35, outscoring its opponent 13-0 in the final quarter. Conner Ollio scored 15 points, Luke Michalek eight and Nicolas Kibbie seven.

Butler hosts Shaler Friday.

WrestlingKnoch youth wrestlers Eli Reese and Brendan Hinchberger won their respective 12-under weight classes at the Brookville Open Tournament recently.Reese won at 100 pounds, Hinchberger at 110 pounds.Sam Freyermuth placed second at 10-under 100 pounds at the Franklin Regional Open Tournament.At the Indiana Novice Super Trophy Tournament, Kody Moore placed second at 12-under 110 pounds, Scott Fraser third at 12-under 100, Keagan Fraser third at 10-under 90 and Ty Misitis third at 10-under 75.
