Butler’s junior high wrestling team won the 24-team North Allegheny Tournament Saturday, using eight place-winners to take the title.
Christian Sequete at 145 pounds was the Golden Tornado’s lone champion. He used three pins to get to the finals before winning the title match in overtime.
Zack Dovenspike at 138 pounds, Dane Friedt at 165 and Saavon Mosby at 250 placed second for Butler. Sam, Dietrich at 115 and Riley Burdine at 210 placed third.
Donovan Malovich placed fourth and Cole Friedt fifth in their respective weight classes.
Butler competes in its final home match of the season at 5 p.m. today.
BasketballJudah Roth scored 18 points — including four 3-pointers — and added 12 rebounds and five steals as First Baptist Christian elementary defeated Trinity, 34-31. Kevin Fitzgerald had eight points and 15 rebounds, Ben Drake eight points and five assists.Roth had 13 points and 11 rebounds in FBC’s 22-20 loss to Beaver County Christian. Ben Drake added five points and 10 rebounds, Kevin Fitzgerald 10 rebounds and four steals.
