Butler Sting 16U softball places 13th

The Butler Sting softball team went 3-3 and finished 13th of 28 at the National Softball Association “A” Division World Series in Spartansburg, S.C.

Ashley Coon led the team with an .800 batting average, while Saydie Moore (.417), Clara Stoughton (.375), Emily McDonald (.300) and Amanda Webb (.300) also produced at the plate.

2 Moniteau softball players earn honors

Moniteau sophomores Kristina and Kennedy DeMatteis were named to the MaxPreps UnderClassmen All-American softball teams for their efforts during their freshman year.

Kennedy, chosen as a pitcher, batted .685 , had 35 RBIs and went 16-1 in the circle. Kristina, chosen as a catcher, hit .662 and drove in 31 runs.

Moniteau set a school record with 20 wins last season and won the District 9 title.
