Brian Presco scored on a run and tossed a 56-yard touchdown pass to Brayden Setnar as the Butler White junior high football team defeated Indiana, 30-14, recently at Art Bernardi Stadium.
Shane Toomey and Chris Karenbauer also had scoring runs for Butler. Toomey, Karenbauer and Matt Rairigh added two-point conversions.
Defensively, John Michaels, Jacob Hockenberry and Chris Mertz led Butler.
Butler’s Gold team suffered a 20-14 loss to North Allegheny-Ingomar as Conner Bachman and Isaiah Skidmore scored for the Golden Tornado. Nolan Allison added a two-point conversion.
Darin Skidmore, Ethan Eichenlaub and Hunter Hartley led the defensive effort.
Cross country
Justin Higgins of Butler Catholic was the overall winner and his team won the cross country meet with Alpha and St. Bonaventure recently.
Tim Patterson finished fifth, Ryan Truax eighth, Tom Preston ninth and Luke Zagurskie 10th for the Saints. John Keelan was the overall winner of the JV meet with teammate CJ Singleton getting second.
Butler Catholic’s boys won the team title in a meet against St. Vitus, Holy Redeemer, St. Peter & Paul and Our Lady of Fatima. Higgins placed third overall, Patterson fourth, Truax fifth, Preston sixth and Zagurskie seventh.
Singleton won the JV meet. Caraval Losch led the Saints’ varsity girls with a second-place finish while Lea Zagurskie placed second in the JV race.
