YOUTH SPORTS
Justin Higgins finished first overall as the Butler Catholic varsity boys cross country team won a recent home meet against St. Vitus of New Castle, Holy Redeemer of Ellwood City and St.’s Peter & Paul of Beaver.
Tom Preston finished second and Ryan Truax third for the Saints.
Butler Catholic’s JV boys also won their meet with CJ Singleton being the individual winner.
Caraval Losch finished first overall, but the BCS girls varsity team finished second. Sarah Preston claimed fifth for the Saints. Maddie Gilkey placed sixth for the girls JV, which finished second as a team.
In the recent North Area Catholic Schools Cross Country Championships at North Park, Butler Catholic’s boys varsity placed sixth. Higgins was 14th overall. The JV boys took third with Singleton finishing 12th overall.
Losch finished 12th overall for the Butler Catholic girls.
Hockey
Jerome Oliver scored four goals and added an assist in Butler Middle School’s recent 8-5 victory over Hampton.
Ronan Miller tallied three goals with Tyler Wilkinson, Zach Taylor and Blake Siniki adding assists. Connor Strobel made 27 saves in goal and Butler produced 48 shots on goal.
