SLIPPERY ROCK TWP — State police arrested a Beaver County man for having a stolen gun during a weekend event at an off-campus apartment complex near Slippery Rock University, authorities said.

Zaquan A. Jeter, 22, of Rochester, who is charged with two felonies, is being held in the Butler County Prison on $10,000 bail.

A security officer at University Village at Slippery Rock in Slippery Rock Township told police that during a large gathering at one of the fire pits shortly after midnight early Sunday morning, one of the attendees reported a man with a gun.

The witness pointed to Jeter, according to court documents, and told the officer, “that guy just pointed a gun at someone.”

The security official approached the defendant and conducted a pat-down search, police said, which turned up a handgun in the man's left pants pocket.

The officer handcuffed Jeter, took him to the security office and notified police, documents said.

Police seized the .380-caliber pistol, and a check of the National Crime Information Center database showed the gun had been reported stolen in 2015 in New Sewickley Township, Beaver County.

District Judge Bill O'Donnell arraigned Jeter on felony charges of receiving stolen property and possessing a handgun without a carry license.
