SLIPPERY ROCK — Zach Leachman, 13, of Mars was the overall winner of the eighth annual SRU Mini-Triathlon held Sunday at Slippery Rock University.

Leachman completed the course — consisting of a 425-yard swim, 10.5 mile bike ride and 2.5 mile run — in 59 minutes and 52 seconds. There were 66 participants in the event.

Samuel Archibald, 19, of Grove City finished second while John Schlie, 33, of Mars was third.

Jenny Senko, 25, of Washington, Pa,., was the overall female champion, completing the course in a minute and 12.33 seconds.

Among other Butler County runners faring well included Zachary Baker of Harmony, the men’s under-18 division winner, and Donald Wallace of West Sunbury, who won in the men’s ages 40-44 category.

Madeline Gognon of Mars won the women’s under-18 category. The top two finishers in the women’s 45-over division were Ann Cheman of Harmony and Tammy Schuey of Chicora.
