Thursday — Police reported charges were filed against a Butler man and a 15-year-old boy stemming from a stabbing call to police Dec. 23 at a West Diamond Street apartment.The investigation later determined there was no stabbing. Instead, the boy is accused of breaking a window at the apartment building.The boy, who police did not identify, is charged with criminal mischief, disorderly conduct, public drunkenness and underage drinking. Raymond Yarnell, 45, of Butler is charged with furnishing alcohol to minors.8 p.m. Wednesday — Justin David Muse, 29, is accused of assaulting his 30-year-old wife during a domestic dispute at their Lincoln Avenue home.Police went to the home and found the defendant's wife with cuts on her forehead, and a swollen and bruised right eye. Muse later was arrested and charged with simple assault. He was placed in the Butler County prison on $5,000 bond.2:58 p.m. Wednesday — Police said Todd Cypher, 22, of Clearfield Township was cited for hit-and-run after a two-car crash at Brown and Center avenues. Deanna Gerstner, of Butler Township was driving the other car.
6:45 p.m. Thursday — Terry Thomas Burke, 62, of Saxonburg was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after a minor crash on O'Hara Road near Dinnerbell Road in Jefferson Township.9:41 a.m. Thursday — Acar driven by Sarah Boice, 18, of Portersville and a pickup truck driven by Dalton Hogue, 19, of Slippery Rock collided at Stoughton and Slippery Rock roads in Slippery Rock Township.7:07 a.m. Thursday — Cars driven by Valerie H. Montgomery, 20, of Slippery Rock and Richard Defranciscis, 44, of Renfrew collided on Interstate 79 in Worth Township. The collision pushed Defranciscis' vehicle into another car that was stopped due to backed up traffic from an earlier accident. Montgomery was cited for driving too closely to another vehicle.5:44 a.m. Thursday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Brian A. Novak, 44, of Pittsburgh crashed and rolled over on I-79 in Worth Township. Police said Novak was cited for driving too fast for conditions.Thursday — George Vincent Kohst III, no age given, of Chicora is accused of producing and circulating three anonymous letters falsely accusing a co-worker of sex crimes.Kohst allegedly sent two letters to the victim's employer and another letter to the state police barracks in Butler Township. The letters were sent between 2002 and last June.The suspect, police said, admitted wrongdoing. He is charged with making false reports to police as well as harassment.6:20 p.m. Wednesday — Acar driven by Monica Huffman, 19, of Cochranton skidded on ice and hit a guardrail on I-79 in Worth Township.11:15 p.m. Sunday — Apickup driven by Larry W. White, 37, of Tarentum, Allegheny County, struck a large tree along Kyle Road in Middlesex Township. White was cited for careless driving.
12:12 p.m. Tuesday — Aminor vehicle crash at Whitestown Road and Hansen Avenue led to the arrest of Athena Lee Tompai, 19, of Butler, who was wanted on a warrant.Police also discovered drugs linked to Tompai during the investigation. The defendant was arrested and charged Thursday with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, and possession of a small amount of marijuana.Additionally, she is charged with driving with a suspended license and driving without an inspection sticker. Following arraignment on charges, Tompai was placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bond.
