5:15 p.m. Wednesday — Tammy S. Birckbichler, 51, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of drugged driving on Hilltop Avenue.Police said that after stopping Birckbichler's pickup, they found a suspected crack cocaine pipe and a carisoprodol pill in her purse. Carisoprodol is a prescription muscle relaxant.A state police drug recognition expert conducted a drug examination that found Birckbichler was allegedly under the influence of a "combination of stimulants, depressants and cannabis," according to court documents.District Judge Sue Haggerty arraigned the defendant on charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance and driving with a suspended license. She was placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail.Monday — A Sony PlayStation 2 video game system and a jar containing $20 in coins were stolen in a break-in at a home in the 200 block of Reo Street. The unknown burglar, who pushed in a rear window to get inside, also knocked over a terrarium, which broke.5:11 a.m. Sunday — David Edward Baker, 43, is accused of punching his girlfriend, 44-year-old Debora Safranek, in the face several times during a domestic dispute at their East Walnut Street home. Baker is charged with simple assault.
Tuesday — A baby Jesus doll was reported stolen from a Christmas manger set at a home in the 400 block of Liberty Street, Grove City. The theft happened over the Thanksgiving Day weekend.
6:20 p.m. Tuesday — Vehicles driven by Aimee Lohner, 32, and Sherry Chupka, 38, both of Butler, collided on routes 422 and 8. Chupka suffered a minor injury.Monday — Police charged Donna M. Anderson, 43, of Harrisville with three counts of theft after she allegedly stole medication from a Whitestown Road home where she was working as an in-home caregiver for a wheelchair-bound patient.Anderson is accused of taking a single Ibuprofen pill from a bottle marked with a Vicodin prescription on three separate days between Nov. 16 and 20.The patient's mother, believing someone was taking her son's Vicodin pills, substituted those pills with Ibuprofens as part of her own investigation into the suspected theft, according to court documents.She related her findings to police and reported that Anderson was the only person in the home when the Ibuprofens were taken.
12:27 p.m. Tuesday — A car driven by Jason S. Gibson, 36, of Slippery Rock struck a tree along Route 8 at Lang Lane in Worth Township. Police said Gibson was cited for a lane violation.Tuesday — A Mongoose bicycle was found in woods near Camp Lutherlyn in Connoquenessing Township. The owner can claim the bike by calling police at 724-284-8100.3:47 p.m. Monday — A car driven by Gwen R. Brown, 20, of Salineville, Ohio, struck the rear of a pickup on North Main Street Extension in Center Township. Robert Neupert, 60, of Cabot was driving the truck.Nov. 20 — Unspecified property was taken in a burglary at a Carbon Center Road house in Summit Township. Items also were taken from a locked shed at the home.
Noon Saturday — Cars driven by Karen A. Catanzaro, 38, of Castle Shannon, Allegheny County, and Eli A. Maxwell, 18, of Gibsonia collided on Route 208 in Barkeyville. Police said Catanzaro faces a ticket for illegally passing another vehicle.
5:20 p.m. Tuesday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Kimberly Hazen, 40, of Jackson Center struck a utility pole and at least two mailboxes along North Liberty Street near Maple Terrace Drive in Pine Township. Police said Hazan, who suffered a minor injury, was cited for a lane violation.Tuesday — Several unspecified items were taken between 2:30 and 3:15 p.m. in a burglary at a Smith Road home in Springfield Township.12:10 p.m. Monday — A car driven by Ronald Heiman, 67, of Hermitage struck a deer on Interstate 80 in Wolf Creek Township.Nov. 26 — A money bag was taken in a burglary at a Nicklin Road home in Pine Township.3:50 a.m. Nov. 25 — An SUV driven by Maria Trolli, 63, of Streetsboro, Ohio, struck a bear on I-80 in Pine Township. Trolli said she was not hurt, but police did not say what happened to the bear.Nov. 25 — William Merle Rigby Jr., 26, of Grove City was arrested for failure to comply with registration of a sexual offender. The arrest came after authorities were notified Rigby was not in compliance with registration procedures. He was arraigned on the felony charge and released on his own recognizance.Rigby, who last verified his address as 188 Cranberry Road in Pine Township, violated the terms under Megan's Law for the period between Oct. 23 and Nov. 24. The state police Megan's Law Web site for sex offenders showed Rigby was convicted in 2005 of the federal crime of sodomy.Nov. 25 — A log splitter was reported stolen from a Millburn Road home in Springfield Township. The theft happened Nov. 24 or 25.10:50 a.m. Nov. 24 — A car driven by Stacy L. Randall, 25, of Slippery Rock struck a tree along North Liberty Road in Liberty Township.
