Thursday — Kevin Quinn, 37, of Butler was arraigned on several charges for allegedly depositing a counterfeit check of $2,960 in a newly opened account at Dollar Bank in the Point Plaza shopping center on Sept. 18. Quinn is accused of later making withdrawals from the account.Quinn is charged with theft by deception, forgery, receiving stolen property and bad checks.Thursday — Two Butler men were arraigned on charges stemming from the theft of a laptop computer from an Old Plank Estates apartment.Police said Christopher A. Gratzinger 22, and Justin J. Mydock, 18, allegedly sold the computer to Digital Technologies at the Great Butler Mart. The suspects are charged with receiving stolen property.
Wednesday — Jason Scott Miller, 23, of Chicora was arraigned on charges he had sex with a 14-year-old at a Grant Street home in August.Miller is charged with statutory sexual assault and corruption of minors. He is free on $25,000 unsecured bail.Wednesday — Cody Baker, 18, of Grove City reported that someone stole an Ipod Touch and a wallet from his vehicle in the parking lot beside Flynn's Tire off Main Street. The theft occurred between 7:55 a.m. and 3 p.m.Tuesday — An unidentified vehicle overnight traveled through the yard of a home on George Junior Road, leaving ruts in the yard. The driver did not stop.
2:54 a.m. Thursday — An unidentified blue vehicle knocked over two street signs after traveling onto a sidewalk on Route 68 in Chicora. Police said the driver of the eastbound vehicle did not stop following the crash.Thursday — Police charged two men in connection with the theft of a dirt bike from a Brinker Road home in Summit Township.Michael Schmuck, 20, of Zelienople is accused of taking the bike, which was being sold, for a test drive. But he never returned it, police said. Robert Schmuck, 23, of Zelienople allegedly took the bike to Pittsburgh and sold it for $400.Michael Schmuck is charged with theft by unlawful taking and Robert Schmuck, is charged with receiving stolen property and theft by deception.3:20 p.m. Wednesday — A suspected drunken driver is accused of assaulting three troopers and a Zelienople police officer after she was pulled over on Route 68 in Connoquenessing Township.Kristin Leigh Hall, 38, of Harmony stopped her vehicle but then tried to leave. A struggle ensued, a police news release said, and Hall had to be "physically subdued" after kicking the four officers. One of the troopers suffered a minor cut to a finger.Hall was arraigned on four counts each of aggravated assault and simple assault, driving under the influence, resisting arrest and five traffic violations. She was placed in the Butler County Prison on $2,000 bail following arraignment.Wednesday — Police charged Joshua Herald, 23, of East Butler with theft for allegedly taking an East Butler woman's purse Dec. 13 from a Herman Road bar in Summit Township.5:24 p.m. Tuesday — No one was injured in a freak accident in Summit Township.Police said the accident started to unfold when the left rear wheel of a pickup driven by Lynn A. Blake, 42, of Butler began to fall off while northbound on Route 38. One of the lug nuts from the pickup flew off and struck the windshield of a passing car, driven by Steven E. Garing, 45, of Chicora, in the other lane.The pickup's wheel moments later came off and rolled into the path of a sport utility vehicle driven by Jacquelyn M. Marsh, 48, of Emlenton, which was southbound on Route 38.The SUV sustained severe damage to its driver's side and undercarriage after hitting the wheel, and had to be towed from the scene.Police said Blake faces a ticket for driving with a suspended license.7:45 a.m. Tuesday — Two people were hurt when cars driven by Bridget Yodens, 24, of Slippery Rock and Donald A. Lemke, 82, of Ellwood City collided on Route 488 in Portersville. Lemke and a passenger, Ann Lemke, 81, also of Ellwood City, were taken to hospitals in Butler and Allegheny counties with minor injuries.Police said Yodens was cited for failing to yield the right of way.Saturday — Michael Lewis Frederick, 44, of Evans City was arrested after he allegedly assaulted a 43-year-old woman during a domestic dispute at a home on Margaret Avenue in Forward Township. Frederick was arraigned on charges of terroristic threats and simple assault, and placed in the county prison.
Thursday — Police reportedly arrested a 19-year-old man following an investigation into a rash of vehicle break-ins in the Rimersburg area.Kyle Allen Trice of Meadville, Crawford County, broke into at least three vehicles around 2:45 a.m. Tuesday at Route 68 and Carwick Road in Toby Township. Police nabbed the suspect a short time later, and recovered some of the property taken from the vehicles.The estimated total value of the stolen items was $1,419. Police said Trice faces charges of theft from a vehicle and receiving stolen property.
Wednesday — Jacob Michael Adams, 18, of Kittanning was arrested on charges he broke into three homes — one in Worthington and two in West Kittanning — between Dec. 28 and 31.Adams was arraigned on three counts each of burglary, theft and receiving stolen property, and two counts of criminal mischief. He is being held in the Armstrong County Jail on $15,000 bail.
