INDIANA, Pa. — Caleb King of East Brady was selected for the Sutton Scholars academic achievement scholarship program at Indiana (Pa.) University.
The program recognizes freshman applicants who are very strong academically and show outstanding promise.
King is a 2015 graduate of Karns City High School and was a speaker for his graduation. He is a member of National Honor Society, Student Council, National Forensics League, Math Club, Physics Club and was treasurer of the Weightlifting Club. He was a member of the football team and Stand Tall.
King will study at the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at IUP.
The scholarship can be renewed for four years of study. Sutton Scholars also are eligible for scholarships for summer courses through the Summer Scholars Academy.
King is the son of Steve and Petula King.

ANAHEIM, Calif. — Brittany Reitler, a recent Butler County Vo-Tech and Karns City High School graduate, took first place in the personal care event at the national Health Occupations Students of America conference.The event had 41 competitors and required them to use clinical nursing skills as presented in scenarios.She was the only vo-tech student from Pennsylvania to win a category at the national conference.In March, Reitler placed first in the group's State Leadership Conference and qualified for the national competition.Reitler will study nursing at Robert Morris University this fall.Scholarship Program.———
JACKSON TWP — Katherine Platt, an upcoming senior at Seneca Valley High School, had the best time in Pennsylvania for a regional exam in the Trig-Star mathematics competition. She was the only one of the 16 participating Seneca Valley students to complete all questions correctly in 54 minutes.The Trig-Star contest is sponsored by the National Society of Professional Surveyors and focuses on practical applications of trigonometry.—–—
JACKSON TWP — Eric McElhinny has been offered a National Merit University of Pittsburgh Scholarship.He is a 2015 graduate of Seneca Valley High School and was a finalist in the National Merit Scholarship Program.———MILLERSVILLE — Adam Soergel of Butler was chosen as a recipient of the Commitment to Excellence Scholarship for the fall 2015 semester at Millersville University of Pennsylvania.—–—LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Tyler Krumpe of Petrolia received a Skill Point Certificate in Automotive Refinishing Technology at the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference.He is a student at Butler County Area Vocational-Technical School.Certificates were awarded in 86 occupational and leadership areas to students who achieved high scores defined by industry.The SkillsUSA Championships include more than 100 hands-on competitions for high school and college students.
