Shelby Wood, a student at Mars High School, was selected to receive a 2016 Horatio Alger State and Specialized Scholarship of $7,000.

She was recognized for demonstrating the ability to overcome personal adversity while maintaining a resilient spirit and for her hard work, determination and perseverance.

The scholarship is one of the nation’s largest privately funded, need-based scholarship programs. It is administered by Horatio Alger Association.

ASHLAND, Ohio — Waylon O’Donnell of West Sunbury will play the role of Lysander in the stage production of William Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” in February at Ashland University.

O’Donnell is a theater major at Ashland University and a 2015 graduate of Moniteau High School.
