Kentucky, Coastal in NCBA finale

The University of Kentucky scored four runs in each of the first two innings against the University of Wyoming on Monday, giving the Wildcats a 12-6 victory at Pullman Park and a trip to the National Club Baseball Association Championship Game.

The defending champion Wildcats had defeated the Cowboys 8-1 in an earlier matchup to force a second and deciding game.

With the win, Kentucky will face Coastal Carolina, an 8-5 winner over Virginia Commonwealth in Monday's other semifinal contest.

The championship final is set for 7 p.m. today at Pullman Park.

Brandon Hranicky and Ben Manning each had two hits and three RBI apiece in Game 2 for Kentucky while teammates Matthew Reis, Brian Johnson and Martin Mayer drove in two runs each.

In the earlier game, Mayer, Reis and Hranicky had two RBI each as the Wildcats used a seven-run fourth inning to open up a 7-1 lead.

Johnson went the distance, scattering seven hits with eight strikeouts and two walks.

For Coastal Carolina, Jeff Richard had two doubles, a single and two RBI to lead the offensive attack while Sean Manahan added a pair of hits. Five of Coastal Carolina's 10 hits were doubles.

Virginia Commonwealth plated three runs in the top of the seventh, but fell short.
