More than 5 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered across the state, the Department of Health said Tuesday.
A total of 5,043,676 doses have been administered since the beginning of the pandemic last spring, according to the department.
As a result, 1,781,870 people are fully vaccinated and 1,599,860 people are partially vaccinated, meaning they have received one dose of a two-dose vaccine.
In the county, 22,213 people are partially vaccinated and 37,926 people are fully vaccinated, according to the department.
The department reported two more deaths in the county Tuesday, raising the total to 386, and 52 new cases, raising the total to 9,639, since the pandemic began.
Statewide, 5,032 new positive cases increased the total to 1,020,300, and 34 new deaths raised the total to 25,049 since the pandemic began.
There are 1,916 people hospitalized, including 389 patients in intensive care. The 14-day average number of people hospitalized per day is about 4,400 lower than it was at the peak in December 2020 and lower than at the height of the spring peak on May 2020. However, the average of number of hospitalized patients has started to increase, the department said.
About 26,409 of the total cases in the state are among health care workers.
In licensed nursing and personal care homes, 69,224 residents and 14,231 employees have COVID. Of the total deaths in the state, 12,912 have been residents of nursing or personal care facilities.
In addition, the department updated is recommendations for how schools should to respond to confirmed cases of COVID.
If the community transmission levels in the county are low or moderate, schools should close for one or two days if two to four students or staff in the same building have confirmed cases, and close for five days if five or more cases are reported.
If the transmission level is substantial, schools should consider altering the schedule to significantly lower the number of students in the school if any cases are reported.
The department also said summer child care and summer camps are permitted to operate, but they should follow safety guidelines from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Guidelines call for hand washing, wearing face masks, and cleaning and disinfecting.
