2 companies make bids to do work on dog park
Two companies have bid to do work on Jade’s Dog Park at Alameda Park.
Martino Inc. of Rochester and Plavchak Construction of Jefferson Hills both bid on the project.
The bids were opened Monday at the Butler County commissioners meeting. Gary Pinkerton, county parks and recreation director, said the bids will be tabled for review.
Martino bid $125,027 for site improvements, $38,463 for paving and $35,844 for electrical and plumbing work. Plavchak bid $113,600 for site improvements, $38,500 for paving and $43,300 for electrical and plumbing work.
When completed, the dog park will be the second one in the county. The other is in Cranberry Township.
The county in January awarded a $48,569 contract to Pashek Associates of Pittsburgh to prepare construction documents and to handle bidding and construction observation for the dog park at Alameda.
Additionally, Colorado sculptor Louise Peterson is creating a life-size bronze dog statue for the park under a $30,000 contract.
Donated money funded both contracts.
