COVID cases decline; recovery rate rises
New COVID-19 cases continued to decline and the state recovery rate increased Thursday for the second time this week.
The Pennsylvania Department of Health reported 19 new cases in the county and 1,430 across the state, and the state recovery rate increased to 93%. The recovery rate climbed from 91% to 92% earlier this week.
With the new cases added, the county has had a total of 11,039 confirmed cases since the pandemic began, and there has been a total of 1,191,532 cases in the state.
No new deaths were reported in the county, but 40 new deaths in the state bring the total to 26,965.
In licensed nursing and personal care homes, there are 71,536 cases among residents and 15,250 among employees. Of the deaths in the state, 13,239 have occurred in nursing or personal care home residents.
About 28,500 of the cases in the state are among health care workers.
There are 1,353 people hospitalized, including 316 in intensive care. The 14-day average number of people hospitalized per day is decreasing after peaking at 2,661 patients.
The Butler Health System reported Wednesday that Butler Memorial Hospital is treating two COVID-19 patients, including one in intensive care, and Clarion Hospital is treating two COVID-19 patients.
BHS said anyone age 12 or older can walk in or schedule vaccine appointments at the BMH clinic at the Clearview Mall or at Clarion Hospital.
The health department also reported that 77,504 people in the county are fully vaccinated and 14,561 people are partially vaccinated.
Statewide, 4,346,446 people are fully vaccinated and 1,637,837 people are partially vaccinated, An average of more than 65,000 people are getting vaccinated every day.
A total of 9,969,849 doses of vaccine have been administered, including 5,984,283 first and single doses and 3,985,566 second doses.
