Mary Jane Snyder, 88, of Slippery Rock, passed away at Transitions Healthcare Autumn Grove Care Center, in Harrisville, Wednesday evening, Nov. 4, 2026.

Mary Jane was born in Grove City on April 18, 1938, to Robert Martin Daugherty and Evelyn Minnie Jennings Daugherty.

She married Harry Arthur “Art” Snyder in 1963, and he preceded her in death in 1987.

Mary Jane loved her family and community. She was a member of the Center Presbyterian Church in Slippery Rock for over 40 years and had, in earlier years, been active in the local bowling league. She enjoyed word puzzles.

Mary Jane was part of a dedicated inaugural group, which included Bill Martin, Georgia Smeltzer and Grace Vogan, that received specific emergency medical technical training, leading to the development and transformation of the local Slippery Rock Rescue Team.

Survivors include two sons, Sid R. (Judy) Snyder, of Slippery Rock, and Doug L. (Mimi) Snyder, of Slippery Rock; daughter, Susan E. Farrell, of Palm Bay, Fla.; sister, Marta Jo (Bruce) Wilson, of Transfer, Pa.; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Art; son, Stephen S. Snyder; sister, Barbara Lee Hodgson; and longtime companion, Grady Cooper.

The family would also like to acknowledge the special care given to Mary Jane at Autumn Grove.

SNYDER — There will be no public services for Mary Jane Snyder, who died Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2026.

Interment will be in Crestview Memorial Park, Grove City.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Slippery Rock Fire-Rescue, 162 Elm St., Slippery Rock, PA 16057.

Arrangement have been entrusted to SMITH FUNERAL HOME, Slippery Rock.
