Response to Andrea C. Myths
I wanted to respond to Andrea's fictitous Clinton achievments.
1. Welfare Reform -Do you mean the welfare reform passed by the house and senate which he vetoed twice and was forced to finally sign by the republican house and senate?
2. Longest sustained economic growth in US history -Do you mean the 10 year expansion from March 1991 to March 2001? When did he take office ( I believe he took office in Jan. 1993) and could you please name one economic policy of his that contributed to the 10 year expansion?
3. Balanced federal budget (first time since 1969 - despite inheriting worst deficit of US history) - Do you mean the balanced budget passed by the Republican house and senate?
3. Budget surplus (first in 30 years) - See response to #2.
4. Lowest unemployment rate in modern times - The unemployment rate is lower now than the average of the Clinton years.
5. Highest percentage of home ownership in US history -Home ownership is higher now than ever in US history.
6. Reduced inflation to a 30-year low -Inflation was low due in large part due to low commodity (mainly oil prices)which were mostly a result of the Asian financial crisis.
7. Prevented Saddam's development of WMDs by lauching airstrikes against Iraq in 1998 when it tried to reject UN weapons inspectors (got the inspectors back in) -I thought Saddam wasn't persuing WMD's? Weren't the inspectors subsequently kicked out again?
8. Ended Guarantee of Citizenship to Cuban "refugees" (i.e., illegal immigrants - think "Scarface")
9. Increased Trade Embargoes on Iran -Working real well. Working about as well as the deal he signed on with North Korea.
10. Smacked down bin Laden's forces in Sudan with missile strikes (to retaliate against terrorist attacks on US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania - Do you mean the empty tents? The strikes may have worked if Madelin Half-bright wouldn't have tipped off the Pakistani official days prior to the strikes.
