Fact check
Contrary to the lies packaged as truth in the ABC "docu-drama" about 9/11, former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright never dreamed of warning Pakistan about impending missile strikes. And hearing of this lie in the movie upset her greatly. On September 5, 2006, she wrote to Robert Iger, President and CEO of The Walt Disney Company (parent company of ABC), to voice a variety of integrity concerns, with this falsehood notably among them. Specifically, Ms. Albright wrote:
"One scene apparently portrays me as refusing to support a missile strike against bin Laden without first alerting the Pakistanis; it further asserts that I notified the Pakistanis of the strike over the objections of our military. Neither of these assertions is true."
Albright's account is easy to prove through a number of independent sources. On the other hand, the ridiculously sexed-up "Path to 9/11" is well documented as fiction, based only loosely on facts.
This is the very reason for the objections to the moive by Albright and others who were depicted not just inaccurately, but in a maliciously false manner for the purpose of drumming up an emotional charge - because they knew that people would see the it and naively accept it as fact. That's why the nation's most respected historians chided ABC for taking part in an obviously partisan work that was designed to cloud history, instead of make it clear.
