Harmony’s German Christmas Market will return in November
Halfway through November, Harmony’s historic streets will resemble a “winter wonderland,” according to Laura Reid Riggin, co-chair of this year’s German Christmas Market.
The event, which has been a staple of holiday season in the borough for over 2 decades, is set to take place Saturday, Nov. 14, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 15, from noon to 4 p.m.
There will be 60 artisans, crafters and food vendors this year at the market, Riggin said. Guests can also enjoy appearances from Santa Claus, horse-drawn wagon rides and glühwein, or mulled wine.
Entertainment by Alpen Schuhplattlers, a German dance group, also will be featured during the weekend. Teutonia Männerchor, a German social club from Pittsburgh, will perform traditional choral music Saturday, Nov. 14.
Visitors can eat a variety of food, from homemade German food to desserts from local bakeries, as well as soft pretzels, roasted nuts, fudge and pizza.
Tickets for admission cost $10 for adult attendees, and $5 for children aged over 12 and under 18, and for senior attendees over the age of 65.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Harmony Museum. More details about the event can be found at www.harmonymuseum.org.
