William Barbary

Barbary

William G. Barbary, 82, of Butler, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2026, at Butler Memorial Hospital.

He was born April 3, 1944, in Butler, and was the son of the late William H. Barbary and Kathryn J. (Shearer) Barbary.

Bill graduated from Butler High School and then proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He retired from the BTJ Steamfitter United Association. Bill was a member of the Masonic Butler/Victory Lodge 272 and The American Legion.

Over the years, Bill had many passions and hobbies that he shared with many. He was an avid all-game hunter, making his own decoys and reloading shells for all to share. He participated in the Jeep races through the mud trails and many camping weekends in the younger years. Then we had raising and racing homing pigeons, which took to the air for weddings and veteran services within the community. He was a proud Vietnam veteran, who made handcrafted canes and walking sticks that were shipped all across the States for those who served.

His deepest passion was his devotion, support and love to his family, who he encouraged throughout the years to be the best you can. Always, there with words of wisdom and guidance. He had such a quick wit about him, we never knew what was coming next.

He is survived by his daughter, Tricia Kradel; son, Bill Barbary; and grandchildren, Jake Kradel, Aliegh Kradel, Lexi Hopper, Olivia Hopper and Luna Barbary.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille H. (Greenert) Barbary, who passed away Aug. 27, 2020; and daughter, Lisa Barbary-Hopper.
