Sharon man accused of leading police on 50-mph chase in Butler

A Sharon man is accused of exceeding 50 mph in a police chase Wednesday, Oct. 28, through Butler while possessing controlled substances, according to Butler police.

Christian Anthony Fonteboa, 22, was charged Thursday with two felony counts of possession with intent to distribute controlled substances; one felony count each of fleeing police and criminal conspiracy; and one misdemeanor count each of resisting arrest, evading arrest and reckless endangerment following the incident.

Police conducted a traffic stop just before midnight Wednesday on a Jeep owned by Enterprise Rent-A-Car. The traffic stop was conducted on Lincoln Avenue after police said the vehicle had recently left a home associated with drug trafficking.

Police said the Jeep fled the traffic stop and traveled west. The vehicle then crossed the Wayne Street bridge while traveling faster than 50 mph.

Officers followed the vehicle around the city, including down one-way roads, until it stopped in the parking lot of Sunnyside dispensary, where Fonteboa and a passenger fled on foot. The vehicle pursuit spanned about 2.4 miles, police said.

Police said Fonteboa was shocked by a Taser during the incident and was found with 6.9 grams of suspected powder cocaine and 6.7 grams of suspected crack cocaine.

Fonteboa is being held in Butler County Prison with a $200,000 bail. His preliminary hearing has not been scheduled.
