Lucille Kennedy

Lucille Kennedy, 98, of Butler, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2026, after a very brief illness. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a wonderful, caring friend.

Born May 27, 1928, in Butler, she was the daughter of Wilbur and Pearl Beck. From a young age Lucille loved to cook delicious meals and desserts for church dinners, family and friends. She had memorized all the recipes. When she had dinner guests, she would never consider washing dishes until after the guests had gone home — spending time with them was the priority. She was a wonderful example of the gift of hospitality. She worked as a waitress at various restaurants before, during and after raising her children. She enjoyed knitting and was an avid reader for decades. She was proud of her children, their individual accomplishments and the lives they each had crafted for themselves. But she was absolutely the happiest when spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. It is hard to imagine a more loving grandmother.

Lucille married Earl Kennedy Feb. 14, 1969. They lived a very happy and modest life in the country and were known for a large garden with lots of fresh vegetables in the summer. In cooler months, visitors were always greeted by the smell of freshly baked pies or cookies when they went inside. She was active in the Butler Chapter 45 Order of Eastern Star, the Grove City White Shrine of Jerusalem and a long time and beloved member of Middlesex Presbyterian Church, where she had served as a Deaconess.

She is survived by her children, Dr. Paul Nicoletto (Fay), Susan Anderson (Jeff), Edward Kennedy (Lorie), James Nicoletto (Andrea) and James Phipps (Elena), 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
