Dolores Linnon

Linnon

Dolores (Montgomery) Linnon, 95, of Butler, passed away on Friday, Oct. 23, 2026, in Butler. In a poignant coincidence, she passed away on the same date as her beloved husband, John, who preceded her in death exactly 24 years earlier.

Born Dec. 26, 1930, in Brackenridge, Pa., Dolores was the daughter of the late Chester Elwood Montgomery and Dolores Arnold Montgomery. She was the eldest of three sisters.

A 1948 graduate of Har-Brack High School, Dolores went on to work as an executive secretary at Alcoa. She had a love of learning and pursued numerous college courses in business and nursing.

On Oct. 20, 1956, she married John Linnon, with whom she shared 46 happy years of marriage before his passing in 2002.

One of her greatest joys in life was being a mother. She poured her heart into raising her four sons, creating a home filled with love, laughter and a warm welcome for all. Her door was always open, and many neighborhood children gathered around her table, enjoying a home-cooked meal. As her family grew, she embraced being a grandmother with that same boundless love and devotion, taking pride and joy in her grandchildren. For Dolores, family was always at the heart of everything she did.

Dolores was a woman of deep Christian faith who loved the Lord and found great joy in reading and sharing the Gospels. Her faith was not simply something she spoke about, but something she lived through her kindness, compassion and genuine concern for others.

Throughout her life, Dolores was actively involved in her community, including the Butler County Symphony, the American Cancer Society and Meals on Wheels.

Those who knew Dolores will remember her remarkable optimism and joyful outlook on life. Even in the most difficult circumstances, she remained positive and lifted the spirits of those around her. She possessed a wonderful sense of humor and a gift for storytelling, often sharing memories with a familiar twinkle in her eye.

Blessed with an exceptionally sharp memory, Dolores could recall names, dates and family stories with accuracy, even in her final days. She had a passion for genealogy and took great pleasure in preserving and sharing her family’s history. She was also known for her keen intuition.

Above all, Dolores will be remembered as a genuinely kind and caring woman whose faith, laughter, wisdom and unwavering positivity were gifts to everyone fortunate enough to know her.

She is survived by her four sons, Michael Linnon and Timothy Linnon, both of Butler; Patrick (Therese) Linnon, of Hermitage; and Brion (Erin) Linnon, of Butler; her beloved grandchildren, Connor and Madeleine Linnon; her sister, Jane (Al) Bittcher, of Zelienople; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Dolores was preceded in death by her grandson, Ethan Linnon, and her sister, Shirley (Ray) Schmuhl.

Dolores leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, kindness and joy. While she will be deeply missed, her family takes comfort in the countless memories she created the wisdom she shared, and the example she set of finding goodness and happiness in every season of life. Her beautiful spirit and the twinkle in her eye will never be forgotten.
