Pickup rams Cranberry salon
CRANBERRY TWP — An elderly woman drove her truck into the entrance of Fantastic Sams in Piazza Plaza Friday morning, causing a customer to go to a hospital with minor back pain.
The Chevrolet Colorado crashed into the front entrance of the hair salon while about 10 customers and employees were inside, according to township police Sgt. Chuck Mascellino.
The accident occurred just before 11 a.m.
An unidentified woman left on a stretcher after being hit by the truck as she waited in the salon.
It was an odd scene as fire and other rescue personnel worked inside the store to ensure the structure’s stability while customers continued getting their hair cut.
Some of the customers were in mid-perm when the accident happened, Mascellino said, and had to have their procedure finished before being able to leave.
The front entrance to the building had moderate damage with shattered windows and broken doors.
The driver of the truck, who declined to give her name, said she went to pull into a parking spot and took a “wide turn,” hitting the store front.
This is the fifth time that a vehicle has been driven into a building in the past six months in the area.
