Eagle highlights both progress and injustice
The Oct. 9 edition of the Butler Eagle illustrates the positive and negative outcomes of our current ideological division.
We read of the deportation of a man and his family, unable to navigate an exceedingly complex immigration system. Then, we read about the building of a monument, honoring the immigrants of Lyndora, who were not hindered by such barriers and helped build the county. We read of a Mars Area High School student’s positive experience in reading the book, “The Color Purple” — which is banned in many areas across the country.
At least the student was able to read the book of her choice — too bad Mr. Carrizalez was not able to “build” in a place he called home.
